Happy New Year!!!  I like to thank everyone for supporting me as the Secretary of WGAD. Thank you WGAD members for your vote to donate to my fundraiser. My goal this year is to get more of our friends and family to join us on the golf course. I hope many of you can make it to our annual WGAD meeting so most of you can come play every month this year. Don't forget to use the donation/sponsor letter that I typed up so just print it up and give it to the local businesses in your area. The letter tells everything thats important to us such as why we play, the non-profit tax ID#, and the address where to send the donation. Exciting news this year is I will be representing the United States Deaf Women's Golf Team in Scotland at the World Deaf Golf Championship in August. I am looking forward to going it will be my first time going overseas. My fundraising is about half way there. Most of my sponsors are from family and friends. Only a few are from local businesses from my area. I have sent many letters all over the country some have replied that the economy is too slow for them to donate this year. Looking forward to see you at the meeting soon. It still in progress for when we will have the meeting.

I know it has been awhile since you gotten an Newsletter from me. I've been gone on vacation and then off to the US Golf Championship in Colorado. I'm glad that I was able to represent Utah well and quailify to be on the USA Team and I will be going to Scotland in August 2010!!!!!
I will be happy to give a report at the Robert DeSpain Tournament about my experience!

I have a lot of information for you to know.
First,  we will be having an WGAD Tournament in August while some of us will be in Idaho for FWGAD Tournament. Please Sign up with Troy joker10@tmail.com he thinking of having it at Riverside for good practice. A second chance to catch up for your rounds.
Second, you need to have 5 rounds of golf played with a member to play in the Robert DeSpain Tournament in September. You can check the website under Members Scores Tab for the # rounds you have played. If you have played with another member and it is not there please turn in your scorecard to Troy or Me.  Any ? on this I would be happy to explain.
Third, I need each member to check your Yahoo Handicap Tracker and update your scores ASAP so I can update the HC on the website.
Do Not Enter the Scramble score from Valley View!!  Some of you know I enter the scores for you but those who are new members you can choose to have me do it or you set it up yourself. Email me if you need that information to set it up.

It was a beautiful and sunny day at the Ranches Golf Club. The people there were very nice. Great job Ricky working it out to play there. I personally chose to play one tee back all my second shots were long irons the whole time it was good practice for me to get ready for the USDGC in July. I would say this was one of the harder courses we played at with the tall rough of both sides of the fairway.

The GSACD Tournament has been moved to be played on June 20th at Valley View Golf Course. WGAD membership is not required to play. It will be Two-Man Best Ball Scramble format. Hearing players must be teamed up with a deaf player. Reply your partner to Mitch by June 13th. Good opportunity to show our friends our awesome WGAD club!

Registration for FWGAD is due by June 1st for $100.00 after June 1st is $125.00. The cost is $277.69 to stay and play which you pay when you get there. So far we have 6 people going and 2 cars going so we have room for 2 more in the Hotel. If you are interested please email Melissa or Mitch.

Wow! What a great start to the season. We played at Wingpointe and it was a beautiful sunny day except for the fast winds. The wind really threw everyone off their game. We will be playing our next tournament at Riverbend Golf Course on Saturday, April 25th. We have 5 tee time starting at 9:30am. I need everyone to reply if you want to play by Friday-April 16th. They have a strict cancelation policy ( $ ) so if I need to remove any extra tee times before that date. At our last meeting we have voted to remove all members emails off the website except for Officers. Please check out the website it all has been updated.

Hey Golfers,

Wow! Month of July had been very busy to some of us, some went to Reno, some will be
going to FWGAD, or some gone Camping with their Families/Friends or stuck at work.
Meanwhile, I just wanted to say about Saturday July 19th, a week after we returned from
Reno. Melissa hosted the golf tournament at Bountiful Ridge. 10 Golfers showed up. I
would like all who went on that day, to appluded to Melissa for her wonderful job
collecting prizes and sponsered prizes. Say there were 25 different prizes given out,
some were cash, some were gift or items. She has done a great job and completed at the
top. Lets give a Hand to Melissa Stockton! Good work, gal!

Ricky P will take care of August Tournament, he will keep in touch with us.

I would like to ask you guys and need your help for September...that there will have End
of Season Tournament for the WGAD "Robert DeSpain Annual Memorial Tournament" If you guys
know any sponsers or anything to put in our fun prizes, that will be great help. I am
working on to collecting some sponsors. Its been rough lately but I ain't giving up. I
would like to have a best overall tournament...with lots of prizes. I would like to have
everyone who shows up will receive something even though you played rubbish or no name on
stakes.

Melissa, again, Great Job for July's Game...I bet you had great experienced and
motivating to host another one Next year...

Will see you all in August Tournament.
If you guys have any concerns or questions about Robert DeSpain, or asking Sponsors,
please email me at this email  joker10@tmail.com.

Thanks!

Well, when I got up this morning I couldn't bend over without pain. Unfortnately I was struck by a errant golf ball by Layne on the fairway on the 1st hole right in the rib. I was sore a little bit till about the 17th and 18th hole it really started to hurt. This morning it was black and blue but I will survive. So beware even standing on the sideline you can get hit. Due to the small amount of players we had moved the tournament to Old Mill Golf Course in S.L.C. It was a beautiful day and pretty hot. This was a challenging course some played well others did not. We counted our handicaps for this tournament so congrats to Ricky 1st place and Ron 2nd place.

Reminder we still have 2 more WGAD tournaments before the Big "Robert DeSpain Tournament" in September. Get your 5 rounds in if you have not done so yet if you have played some rounds turn in the scorecards to me. Rounds played with other members too can count toward qualifiying for the RDT. We hope to see our biggest group attendance at the Robert Despain Tournament on September 13th.

I will be sending a email out I hope everyone responds.
I will be asking your vote for the next tournament date and place.
Dates are July 19th or 26th.
Places will be either Eagle Mountain or Bountiful Ridge.

Even if you can't play let us know too.

Hello Golfers
It was Friday night, I remembered I looked at the clock 1:17 A.M. I had completed all my duties, all my projects, and all the prizes are prepared.  Off I went to bed little after 1:30....  RISE'd AND SHINE'd!! The smell of morning freshness was great and knew it was a BEAUTY day for golfing. The weather was nice with lovely sunshines. The wind blew slightly but then it stopped later on. As I arrived at Riverside Golf Course early, some of the players already arrived there before me. One by one, excited players started to show up.  When the time got close to  9:00 A.M. 20 Full Players / 10 Teams showed up without any problems. I explained the RULES and stuff before first Tee off at 9:30 A.M.
I announced the pairings...The 1st Group was 'The ScotsMen' - Robert and James Walker / 'The Pin Seeker' Melissa and Barry Stockton. The 2nd Group was 'Titlies Pro-V1' - Cory Flecther and Ricky Pinon / 'JOKER'S WILD!' Troy Ercanbrack and Chris Hill. The 3rd Group was  'Big N and DJ' Nolan and DJ Parker / 'I.R.S.' Smiley Bresino and Kingi. The 4th Group was 'Stay'in Alive' Layne Neilson and Cole / 'Dragonslayers' Mitch P and Grant Carverand. The last Group was '88' Ron Heinrich and Scott Russell /  'The Bish' K5 (Kevin) and his Grandfather Bishop. We all started at the back nine (10th hole) because there was another tournament going on at the same time. We all went and played near to or less than 5 hours thru 18 holes.
After they completed their 18 Holes, the teams came out and met us at Riverdale Park, hosted by GSACD, for some Picinc Social Park. While I collected the prize stakes & scorecards , as I was working on the prizes, everyone was talking about how they did or what happen to that hole or any funny stories they tell it each others. Finally, Melissa, Barry, and I got the prize list and names completed and scorecards accounted. There are 16 total Prizes. First of all, GSACD and WGAD each sponsered $100 into the tournament. All players paid $10 for prizes. Only 4 mulligans were bought (unbeleivable that I totally forgot to buy me couple of Mulligans that I had planned because I was too busy to worry about that! )  And Riverside Owner, Ernie, sponsered 5 sleeves of golf balls and 2 Free Rounds of Golf at Riverside Golf Course. Some of the players brought their camera but Melissa took most of the pictures. Enjoy looking at those pictures.
I wanted to say 'BIG THANKS' to Melissa for helping me out with most of the stuff and had lots of feedbacks with me, thats a great 'Teamwork' there! Also wanted to thank Barry's help at the 19th hole.  Most of All, I wanted to thanked the WGAD for letting GSACD Tournament News onto their Website, so that everyone can look at it.  We got to give a big hand to Riverside Golf Course that they did great job on course conditions and great sponsership by owner of the course, Ernie. Overall, everything ran as smooth as baby's butt even though there were 1 mistake or misunderstanding about scorecards but we got that worked out quickly after questions was asked.

As we broke into the new 2008 WGAD golf season, many of us was in doubt if we were gonna end up playing with rain and snow. That is what the weatherbug was saying!  But we lucked out! No rain or snow, but surely it was very cold! Most of us were all bundled up and it does affect the way some of us play. The sun did pop out a few times but not long enough. We all had a great time. Some of us were breaking in new clubs or just don't play well in the cold. The scores were all over the place. We hope to see everyone again at our next Tournament on April 26th, at Valley View Golf Course in Layton.
Our lowest score was a 84 and we had a tie, Cory Fletcher and Ricky Pinon. We had 6 prizes to give out. 1st place Lowest putt went to Cory Fletcher and 2nd Lowest putt went to Melissa Stockton. We had 4 different Close Cup Prizes the winners are Robert Walker, Ron Heinrich, Melissa Stockton, and Smiley Briseno.
After we played we had our club meeting to elect our new officers. We have elected Mitch Phillips to be President of our wonderful, fun and exciting club. Our Vice-President is Troy Ercanbrack he is working hard on getting all the Tournaments in order. We've chosen Melissa Stockton to be our Secretary / Treasurer she has been working hard on our Website and getting the information out to everyone. We've chosen two trustee to represent our members interest they are Ron Heinrich and Smiley Briseno.
We recently added the GSACD Tournament to the schedule for your information. We do have a hand full of members going to DeafNation Golf Tournament in Reno during the July 11th weekend if you are interested in going please contact us so we can help each other out with the traveling expenses and hotel. Please check out all of the different Tournaments available for you to join in!
